In the rural outskirts of Zimbabwe, there’s a small classroom filled with eager faces—some just learning how to hold a pencil, others carefully tracing letters or counting stones. It might seem simple, but in communities where access to early education is limited or non-existent, these small moments mark the beginning of something powerful: a future.
Over the past few months, your generosity has helped us continue our mission to give children aged 3 to 6 the chance to learn, grow, and play in a safe, nurturing environment. Because of you, we're not only delivering classroom education—we're laying the foundation for lifelong opportunity.
This quarter, we welcomed more children into our early childhood development (ECD) centres and saw them flourish in classrooms that now have more resources, from crayons and paper to puzzles and learning boards. These might seem like small things—but to a child who’s never seen a picture book, or who has never had the chance to explore through play, it’s a door opening to the world.
Our ECD teachers, many of whom are local mothers trained through our program, continue to bring care and creativity into the classroom every day. Their work goes beyond teaching. They're role models, supporters, and the smiling faces that greet children who may otherwise lack stability at home. They also act as early warning systems—spotting signs of malnutrition, trauma, or neglect—and connecting families to the wider support network we’ve built.
We’ve also been able to offer basic meals at our centres. A simple bowl of porridge or a piece of fruit not only fills an empty stomach but helps ensure children can concentrate, grow, and thrive.
We’ve seen the difference this makes. A child who started with barely a word now sings songs with confidence. Another, who once struggled to sit still, is now helping others tie their shoes. These milestones are small, but they’re real—and they’re made possible because of you.
Your support is doing more than keeping the lights on. It’s giving children a real shot at breaking the cycle of poverty—through education, care, and early opportunity.
We also wanted to let you know that GlobalGiving’s Bonus Day is coming up, from 10:00 AM EST on July 16 to 10:00 AM EST on July 17. During that 24-hour period, any one-time donation of $100 or more will be partially matched. If you feel moved to share this project with someone in your life, it could help us reach even more children in need of a strong start.
Thank you for believing in early childhood education—and in the potential of every child, no matter where they are born. You’re changing lives in ways you may never fully see—but we see it every day.
