A Vibrant Dream Growing Behind Fragile Walls

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

In a humble home, its walls worn down by the passing years and harsh conditions of displacement, lives Aya, an orphaned girl, with her elderly grandmother. The house Aya inhabits may be physically "dilapidated," filled with cracks and lacking the most basic comforts, but within those very walls dwells an "unbreakable" spirit.

Every day, Aya wakes up in an environment that reminds her of everything she has lost; the absence of her parents, severe financial hardship, and a place that lacks material security. Although her reality is "grey" and faded, Aya refuses to draw the color of her dreams from the color of her house's walls. She insists that her dreams remain colorful, beautiful, and grand.

For Aya, Masarat was the "window" through which she looks out at a more beautiful world, far beyond the confines of her room. Through this window:

  • Transcending Geographical Boundaries: Aya was able to attend her classes, compete with her peers, and prove her excellence—as if she were stepping out from her grandmother's crumbling home into the vast horizons of knowledge.

  • Digital Security: Masarat provided her with educational stability that compensates for her lack of housing stability; her school is always with her, wherever she goes.

  • Rebuilding Confidence: Through interaction with teachers and classmates, Aya began to realize that her true value lies in her mind and ambition, not in the state of her home or the circumstances of her loss.

Our Valued Partners on GlobalGiving, through your continuous support of Masarat, you are helping Aya restore her "future," even if we cannot yet restore the walls of her home. You are giving her the tool that will one day enable her to build the "house of her dreams" with her own hands.
