With a voice heavy with grief, Duaa, an orphaned girl, shared the heartbreaking story of losing her parents, a moment that robbed her not only of her family but of her childhood itself. Suddenly, Duaa found herself facing responsibilities far beyond her years, forced to leave her school desk and bid farewell to her books to enter the harsh struggle of life.
Duaa transformed from a child dreaming of play and study into a "surrogate mother" caring for her younger siblings. She was a child healing the wounds of other children, providing them with sustenance and safety in the absence of any support. Duaa says she had forgotten the taste of happiness since that ill-fated day; her days grew pale, stifled by a longing for the school she thought she would never see again.
Duaa says that a ray of hope knocked on her door once more through Masarat. Thanks to the flexible education system, she was able to balance caring for her siblings with her passion for knowledge:
Reclaiming Identity: Duaa returned to her pens and notebooks, finally feeling that she had reclaimed a piece of her stolen childhood.
Education as a Sanctuary: For Duaa, learning is not just lessons; it is the "safe space" where she escapes the heavy burdens of responsibility to find herself once again.
Our valued partners on GlobalGiving, Duaa’s story is the greatest testament to the magnitude of your impact. You are the ones who restored the taste of happiness to the heart of a child exhausted by responsibilities. Because of your support, Duaa is no longer just a child caring for children in the wind; she has become an ambitious student building her future and the future of her siblings through education and knowledge. Thank you for being the support Duaa needed when she lost all support.
