Breaking Internal Barriers

By Abdulrazak Madi | Project Leader

In an effort to equip our students with internal resilience alongside academic knowledge, Masarat’s Academic Advising track held a vital interactive session titled: "Psychological Barriers to Academic Achievement: Why do we know what to do, yet fail to do it?"

Session Overview:

The session delved into the complex psychological factors that hinder academic progress, moving beyond simple time-management issues to address deep-rooted challenges such as:

  • Procrastination: Understanding it as an emotional regulation strategy rather than mere laziness.

  • Fear of Failure: How the dread of falling short can paralyze a student’s ability to even begin.

  • The Perfectionism Trap: When the pursuit of a "flawless" outcome becomes the primary obstacle to actual progress.

Key Outcomes:

The session provided students with practical counseling strategies aimed at:

  1. Self-Awareness: Helping students identify their personal internal barriers (e.g., anxiety vs. excessive perfectionism).

  2. Dismantling Internal Constraints: Providing actionable tools to break the cycle of procrastination and embrace mistakes as part of the learning process.

  3. Restoring Academic Momentum: Empowering students to return to their studies with a greater sense of control and self-confidence.

Our Partners at GlobalGiving, your support allows us to provide this specialized type of guidance. We recognize that orphaned and displaced students carry psychological burdens far greater than their peers. Therefore, academic advising serves as the "safety valve" that protects their future from being lost behind internal struggles.

Because of you, we aren't just filling their minds with information; we are building personalities capable of overcoming life's hurdles. Thank you for giving them the tools to break free from their internal chains and soar toward their dreams.
