Winter Program 2025/26 Program Report

By Mun Maya Rawal | Executive Director

In December, HCC organized its regular winter field trip with RISE students. These trips are about much more than distributing scholarships and supplies—they are an opportunity to meet students in person, share moments with them, and remind them that they are seen, valued, and not alone in their journey.

Activities Conducted

  • Scholarships: Each student received NRS 6,000. Some students from Kathmandu visited the HCC office to collect their scholarships, which gave us a wonderful opportunity to sit down, chat, and catch up with them personally.

  • Winter Essentials: Jackets, woollen socks, and caps were distributed to help students stay warm during the chilly winter months.

  • School Supplies: Notebooks, pens, and other essential study materials were provided to support students in their learning.

Beneficiaries
A total of 77 students received support during this trip across Baireni, Lower Dhading, Upper Dhading, Nuwakot, and Kathmandu.

Student Highlight
During the trip, we spent time with Misan (Grade 12) and Samjhana (Grade 9). Their mother has been working in India and has not been in contact for the past three months. Despite this challenging situation, both students are performing well in school and remain hopeful about her return. Meeting them was deeply moving—their smiles, gratitude, and resilience left a lasting impression. Their courage and optimism are truly inspiring.

Observations

  • Students were joyful and deeply thankful for the support.
  • Distributing warm clothes was especially meaningful, given the onset of winter.
  • The trip allowed us to connect directly with students, listen to their needs, and check on their overall well-being.

The winter field trip was very meaningful. Besides giving scholarships, school supplies, and warm clothes to 77 students, it gave us a chance to meet them, hear their stories, and see their hope and strength. Every moment reminded us how important it is to be there for them and support their growth and well-being.
