Dear Supporters,
As we pass the halfway mark of 2025, we’re thrilled to share the incredible progress your support has made possible across our youth-focused programs in Livingstone. From school classrooms to community clinics—and soon, our very own Youth Centre—your impact is being felt in real and lasting ways.
Youth Insaka: Empowerment through Peer Leadership
So far this year, 489 students across six schools have taken part in our Youth Insaka sessions, where young people engage in dynamic, youth-led discussions on topics like Mental Health, Self-Esteem, Peer Pressure, and Decision-Making.
We’re especially proud of the 48 students who were selected as peer ambassadors, chosen for their leadership, academic performance, and ability to serve as role models. These ambassadors are not only learning—they're leading, inspiring, and transforming their communities from the inside out.
Thomas shared:
“It helped to know how to love myself.”
Lubasi reflected:
“It addressed every aspect of a person… full knowledge of myself and everything around me.”
Interest is growing—several schools not yet involved are now requesting to join. Thanks to you, we’re reaching more youth than ever.
Youth Community Centre: The Foundation is Laid
We’re excited to announce that construction of our Youth Community Centre is officially underway! With building permits secured and the land cleared, we celebrated a milestone with a groundbreaking ceremony—and now the foundation is being laid.
In June, we welcomed our first corporate partner, Unum, who helped kickstart the project by:
Building an eco-bench using recycled bricks
Planting fruit trees
Painting benches to brighten up the space
This centre will soon be a vibrant, safe, and inclusive place for youth to learn, grow, and thrive.
LETS Program: Life Skills and Community Education
Over the past six months, our LETS (Sexual and Reproductive Health) program has continued to empower young adults and community members.
A highlight was a two-day “Trainer of Trainers” workshop, focusing on equal gender representation and attended by 30 participants from six clinics. These trainers are now independently leading sessions on critical issues like Child Abuse, Human Trafficking, and Poverty, reaching 121 participants across clinics like Mahatma Gandhi, ZAF Airport, and Libuyu.
Even without the Feeding Program, participation has remained strong—particularly among young women.
Sponsor an Education: 192 Students Supported
In the first half of 2025, 192 students received critical educational support through our Sponsor an Education program:
131 students in Grades 1–12 (including 6 adult learners)
26 participants in our 13th Year programme
35 university/college students
To ensure consistent support, our team visited 15 schools, and many students also joined other Foundation programs during school breaks. For example, 77 sponsored students joined Youth Insaka sessions, while 20 of the 13th Year students participated in LETS training.
Jenipher shared:
“It started like a dream until I actually got my sponsorship… it has given me a new reputation and identity both at home and at school.”
Patrick added:
“It is a rare privilege and honour to be sponsored, and I don’t take it for granted.”
A Note of Gratitude
A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful volunteers and interns—Emma (Germany) and Ty (USA)—who supported our work in Zambia for 6 and 4 weeks respectively. We also want to recognise our 6 local interns, 13th Year students who brought passion and energy to every project they touched. Your commitment has helped us go further, faster.
Looking Ahead
The rest of 2025 holds even more promise. We look forward to:
Completing key construction phases of the Youth Community Centre
Expanding our school partnerships
Growing our alumni community
Deepening our reach in clinics and communities
None of this would be possible without your generosity. From the entire team at the African Impact Foundation—thank you for helping us empower Zambia’s youth to build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
With gratitude,
The African Impact Foundation Team
