December marks the end of the school year in Guatemala, when we celebrate the Class of 2025 with special celebrations for our preschool graduates who are ready to start primary school. The students celebrated with music, dancing, and a special visit from Santa with a gift for each child. With your support we also created canastas navideñas (Christmas gift baskets) for each family. This tradition ensures that our families have the basic food supplies that they might need to be able to celebrate Christmas together and sustain them through the break until the new school year begins mid-January.

As we approach the end of 2025, we reflect on the incredible growth of our students, the power of our community and the generosity you have shown us. As we celebrate the holiday season, we also prepare for the start of the new school year in Guatemala and our 20th anniversary! The Acorn Childcare Center opened its doors 20 years ago, sparked by a vision that every child deserves a strong start and a supportive community. What started as a small idea has grown into a beacon of hope for families facing extreme poverty, nurturing young lives, empowering women and families, and strengthening the community for two decades!
As we celebrate this milestone, we honor all those who dreamed big, worked together, and made this legacy possible. We look ahead with the same spirit to build a brighter future for the next generation and for that we need your help. Inflation in Guatemala has made it more expensive to continue to operate the Center and we face significant challenges in the year ahead. Please tell a friend or family member about our mission.
