Our students have showcased their curiosity and growth through a host of activities this quarter. We started the year with a running start supporting our scholarship students with their studies by providing them tutoring which has supported their excellent grades and work so far this year.
Students mastered different tasks and took diagnostic exams on the tablets giving them new invaluable skills and learning tools. Through every question on their exams they gained new insight and depths of understanding. The students showcased their curiosity and their enthusiasm for learning through a digital age which was reflected in their test results.
Students celebrated Valentine's day or “Día del cariño” with a special photobooth, making special memories with their friends and classmates. Laughter, smiles, and hugs filled our school as they enjoyed every moment celebrating their friendships with their peers. Each student wrote and decorated special valentines day cards for their parents in which they explored their creativity to make these thoughtful cards.
Sixth grade students led an informative and important assembly in honor of International Women's Day. They taught everyone about all the different advancements by women and the important role they have played in Gautemalan society. Everyone was very engaged as they gave different facts and shared special anecdotes about the women in their lives.
Our ninth graders attended a career fair led by our scholarship students showcasing all of their possible career choices and education paths. Students inquisitively explored their next paths in education, they enthusiastically engaged with their peers learning all about subjects ranging from engineering to tourism.
A health center based in Antigua visited the school, and our students were taught about dental hygiene. Students participated and watched demonstrations on how to brush teeth and fluoride was applied to their teeth to clean them thoroughly.
Our students joyfully celebrated “Book Day”. Our fourth graders gave a wonderful assembly highlighting the joys of reading. They ended the assembly with a fun book raffle prize to reward the best readers from each age group. The students did special book related activities in honor of this day. They showed us all of the amazing things they gain from reading and created special honorary projects that they displayed all around the school! Their excellence in reading shines in all of their schoolwork, and now in all the decorations around The School of Hope.
Students were treated to a special visit by magician Panchorizo. He captivated our students and gave them chances to interactively participate with his tricks. Everyone curiously watched as he dazzled the audience and engaged everyone's playful curiosity.
We can't wait for our students to continue achieving their goal; this is possible thanks to the generosity of our donors!
