Interactive games are an effective tool for every child’s learning, as they allow them to learn in a natural and fun way. They stimulate motivation, adapt to their individual needs, and foster the development of social, communication, and cognitive skills. In addition, they facilitate active and meaningful learning. In the case of children with disabilities, they can be even more significant. The goal is to support learning, rehabilitation, and skill development in a playful, accessible, and motivating environment, tailored to each child’s needs, to improve their quality of life and social integration.
This is the case of Alex, a 12-year-old boy with Down Syndrome who is part of the Inclusive Education program. When he first joined, he faced major difficulties: low attention span during traditional therapies, lack of motivation, and little participation in structured activities. His attention could not be retained, nor could his learning be stimulated.
It was decided to incorporate interactive digital games adapted to his cognitive level, such as: assembling puzzles, using pictograms for emotions and simple sentences, tracing numbers and letters, spatial relationships, body schema, and more.
As a result, improvements were observed in attention, active participation, motivation, and enjoyment of activities. The main goal is to achieve the beginning of spontaneous verbalizations, so that Iván can repeat basic words he hears in the games.
