In 2025, Tseltal communities in Chilón strengthened their resilience through community-led and self-managed water stewardship and ecological sanitation. Water, health, and the environment were consolidated as central pillars in sustaining life and caring for their territory.
The year in numbers
—214 people took part in processes of reflection, knowledge exchange, and collective learning through workshops and community gatherings.
—2,090 people benefited.
—64 Rainwater Harvesting Systems (SCALL, by their Spanish acronym) were installed.
—33 dry toilets were self-built.
—More than 7 million liters of water were harvested.
—29,324 liters of water were saved through dry toilets.
Impact
Access to water and sanitation remains a challenge for many rural families in Mexico.
Access to water transforms daily life, especially for women and children. Today, women and children have more time for care, participation, and education. Women attend assemblies and take part in collective decisions. Children grow up healthier, attend school, play, and learn that by caring for water, they are also caring for themselves and their community.

Impacto
