Dear Supporters,
The past quarter has seen a steady continuation of GVI’s commitment towards the President’s Village. Weekly sessions have given the children of the home a chance to enjoy the company of the volunteers outside of the facility, as well as improving their English and snorkel abilities. Activities such as football, volleyball, Frisbee and bracelet making have taken place, giving the children a chance to exercise whilst having fun. A range of snorkel material purchased through the trust increases our input towards the children’s development by taking groups out snorkelling. This allows them to access the beautiful waters that are home to them, and hopefully build an appreciation at respect in order to protect the environment in the future.
Funds have been requested from the trust to purchase material such as stationary and books that will directly benefit the learning capacity of the children. This has been a suggestion given from the Village, and thus they will ensure that the purchases are directed to the right items that will make the most impact to the children. We will try to ensure that no child is limited by the lack of simple learning materials.
We are currently searching for environmental education material to supply the facility with. These will increase their knowledge of both the marine and terrestrial environments as well as the threats to the ecosystems. Hopefully with more environmental education the children can grow up to protect their local environment. However resources of such are inherently expensive, and thus future donations will be greatly appreciated to keep up-to-date with educational material.
The children benefit greatly from your support through the Trust. The next quarter will see a huge boost to the facilities resources and materials, and we will keep inputting items when they are needed. This will give the children a better chance in life, an opportunity that otherwise they would not have been granted.
Our contribution to the facility ties in with a number of Sustainable Development Goals, including Quality Education (SDG 4) and Affordable and Clean Energy (SDG 7) though the solar panel project.
