Dear supporter,
I hope this finds you well. Some exciting news! As per our previous reports, the aim for this project was to focus on providing the Presidents Village' Children's home with a playground. However, thanks to an incredibly generous donor, a very nice playground has been donated to the home! As such, the needs of the home have changed and we wish to continue supporting them.
As you will soon see, the general text on this GlobalGiving project page will soon change. With limited funding, the home struggles with the ongoing maintenance and currently spends a large sum of money each month on their utility bills. As such, the GVI team met with the President’s Village and suggested the idea of a renewable energy project at President’s Village to which we received their full support. The GVI team in the Seychelles have a lot of experience with renewable energy projects, having set up a research base this way just last year.
With the installation of 19 solar panels and equipment, we can help the President’s Village save thousands of dollars each month, not only saving the President’s Village money, but also teaching the next generation in the Seychelles about renewable energy and conservation, something that we are passionate about.
We hope to begin spending this money soon. We have Christmas coming up, during which time we spend money on gifts for all of the children. In addition to that,we are in the assessing and planning stages and are working with renewable energy experts to come up with a clear plan moving forward. The cost currently looks to be around 10,000 GBP, which is our current goal target anyway.
I hope you are as excited about this project as we are. We feel that this will alleviate such a huge burden for the home and will be a real long term initiative that not only helps, but is also great environmentally.
Thank you for your support and if you have any further questions about this new initiative, please do let me know at info@gvi.org
Many thanks
Sophie Birkett
