This project delivers immediate, targeted aid to communities in the Kandy region, which are heavily affected by landslides after heavy rainfalls in Sri Lanka. Using our local knowledge, we direct all funds straight to the places where they create the greatest and most immediate impact. The Forest Healing Foundation has been operating since 2017, reforesting degraded landscapes to prevent landslides and biodiversity loss in Sri Lanka. Now, we are taking urgent action to help landslide victims.
Hill country communities around Kandy like Udadumbara have been devastated by the recents floods and landslides in 2025. Many homes were completely wiped out while roads and bridges are destroyed or blocked. This has severly disrupted access to clean water and food, leaving thousands in unbearable conditions. In many cases entire villages are now cut off and unable to access basic essentials.
By using our local knowledge to target aid directly where access is hardest. We bypass delayed or broken supply chains and ensure help reaches people immediately as we deliver items ourselves. With your donation, we will provide supplies that the communities or officials tell us are most needed. This could include clean water, food provisions, hygiene kits and basic shelter support to flood and landslide-affected families. Every donation, large or small, goes directly to the affected families.
This project is mainly focussing on short-term goals through immediate relief in a humanitarian crisis but will have long-term effects on the region as well. While it will reduce hunger, disease risk and suffering right away, stabilizing basic needs helps to prevent a humanitarian spiral. Supporting the communities sets the groundwork for future recovery when infrastructure is rebuilt. The community remains more cohesive and supported, which helps long-term stability.
