To our supporters,
On Monday, 8 July 2024, Cape Town experienced the onset of a series of severe storms, leading to extensive flooding and landslides across the region. Our school, situated in an underprivileged township, was significantly affected, resulting in immediate closure just as the new term was set to begin. With additional storms anticipated, including a major one on Thursday, 11 July, we urgently seek support to navigate this challenging period.
The floods caused infrastructure damage to the local school forcing it to close, interrupting the education of the students. The storm also displaced 4,000 people in 1,000 homes, key access routed were severely effected and there were vast utility outages.
To ensure the swift resumption of educational activities and support the affected community, we urgently require assistance for:
1.Cleanup and Repairs: Removing debris, repairing structural damages, and restoring classrooms to safe conditions.
2.Replacement of Resources: Acquiring new furniture, educational materials, and repairing or replacing damaged electrical systems.
3.Temporary Facilities: Establishing provisional learning spaces to minimize disruption to student's education during the restoration process.
We appeal to donors, partners, and the broader community to support our recovery efforts. Your contributions will directly impact the lives of our students and help restore a sense of normalcy in these trying times. The recent storms have posed significant challenges to our school and the surrounding community. However, with collective effort and timely support, we are committed to rebuilding and continuing our mission to provide quality education and stability to our students.
Thank you!
