Despite a complex and constantly evolving context, MedAcross continues to provide free healthcare to remote communities in Southern Myanmar — and the project is going well.
Since 2016, our mobile clinic has treated over 18,000 patients living in rural villages in the Kawthaung district, where access to medical services is extremely limited or non-existent. In addition to offering direct care, our team also trains Community Health Volunteers in each village, helping strengthen local health systems through prevention activities, support for chronic patients, and telemedicine consultations.
The situation in the country remains extremely fragile due to the ongoing civil war, mass displacement, economic instability, and growing healthcare costs. Many NGOs have left the country, and the needs of the population — especially in rural areas — continue to grow.
In this already challenging context, a recent earthquake has added further logistical and operational difficulties. Nevertheless, thanks to the support of our donors, we have been able to keep our activities going without interruption.
