Since October 2023, the war in Gaza has caused a severe humanitarian crisis. Over 55,000 Palestinians have been killed and countless injured. Since the collapse of the ceasefire in March 2025, Israeli military operations have escalated and extreme restrictions on aid mean all Gazans are facing displacement, illness and starvation. Since October 2023, Anera has provided 1,600+ truckloads of aid, 66 million meals, over 3 million gallons of drinking water, and over 1,800 health clinic sessions.
Palestinians in Gaza heavily rely on humanitarian aid due to the 16+ year blockade, causing severe shortages of food, fuel and clean water. Throughout the course of the war most of infrastructure in Gaza has been destroyed, everything from water and sanitation to the health care system. Humanitarian aid has been blocked or heavily restricted, and as of July 2025 Gaza's humanitarian conditions are collapsing faster than at any point in the past 21 months.
Currently, extremely limited humanitarian aid is allowed in to Gaza. Despite the enormous challenges, our team still finds a way to provide relief. We are purchasing and distributing locally grown produce, delivering clean water, and running community kitchens in a limited capacity. We operate 3 field healthcare centers which provide care to thousands of patients each week, in both primary and specialty care, including gynecology and obstetrics, orthopedics, wound management, nutrition and more.
By providing immediate relief, we give innocent civilians a chance at survival. Medical aid including long-term rehabilitation programs are needed for recovery. This project will allow families to seek care for illness, injury and malnutrition. We are working with partners and local vendors to deliver as much food aid as possible, in the form of produce, hot meals, and emergency nutrition supplements. We also continue to advocate for more aid to be allowed into Gaza.
