Thanks to the generosity of GlobalGiving donors, our organization has made meaningful progress in responding to the devastating landslides in Southern Ethiopia, particularly in Gofa Zone’s Kencho-Shacha locality, one of the hardest-hit areas.

According to project data and a recent field visit by the MHO Executive Director, in the area of the landslides sothouern Ethiopia In Kencho-Shacha locality claimed hundreds of lives and displaced thousands of people, leaving families without shelter, food, or access to basic services.

Despite limited funds raised directly under this project, we maximized available resources by leveraging support from the GlobalGiving Community Aid Fund. This strategic approach enabled us to revise and implement key activities focused on the most vulnerable survivors.

According a recent field visit by the MHO Executive Director What Your Support Has Made Possible

  • Rehabilitation of more than 50 displaced households, with a strong focus on women-led families
  • Distribution of essential emergency supplies, including food, clean drinking water, and basic medical assistance
  • Rapid response to urgent and emerging needs of families displaced by the landslides
  • Restoration of dignity and stability for families beginning to rebuild their lives

These interventions have helped affected households move beyond immediate survival and begin their recovery journey. Families who were forced from their homes are now regaining safety, stability, and hope.

This impact was made possible by the compassion and solidarity of GlobalGiving donors and partners. Your support ensured that lives were not only supported in crisis but also rehabilitated and restored in communities where recovery resources were extremely limited.

You have not only provided essential aid—you have given hope, dignity, and a renewed chance for the future.

We remain deeply committed to transparency, accountability, and effective use of resources. Every contribution is carefully managed to achieve maximum impact for communities most in need.

We will continue to share updates as the project progresses—because on GlobalGiving, you are more than a donor; you are a partner in recovery and resilience.
