This project aims to establish a roadside Emergency Response Center on the Hama-Idlib highway to serve more than 25,000 returning residents. The center will provide rapid trauma care, two equipped ambulances, essential medical tools, and 24/7 emergency services. By reducing response time by up to 60%, the project will save lives and strengthen recovery in post-conflict rural Hama.
As families return to rural Hama after years of conflict in Syria, the international highway remains dangerously underserved. Road accidents are frequent, yet no operational emergency point exists. Ambulances take over an hour to reach victims, and distant hospitals are overwhelmed. Many injuries become fatal solely due to delayed care. Immediate, accessible trauma services are urgently needed.
The project will establish a fully equipped Emergency Response Center, including a medical unit, trained paramedics, two ambulances, essential trauma tools, and reliable alternative power. The center will be linked to Hama's Emergency Medical System for coordinated response. This integrated approach will ensure rapid intervention, safer transport, and continuous lifesaving services.
By cutting emergency response time and enabling early treatment, this project will reduce preventable deaths and long-term disabilities. It will strengthen health system resilience, support safe resettlement for returning families, and relieve pressure on overcrowded hospitals. Over time, the center will become a permanent pillar of community safety and emergency preparedness in rural Hama.
