Emergency Response to Building Community Strength

By Tyrone Bennett | CEO of Action Change

Hi everyone,

I wanted to take a moment to look back at how far we have come. When this project began as an emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the needs were immediate and overwhelming. We were in survival mode, rushing to provide the most basic essentials to families who had lost everything.

Because of your unwavering support, we were able to meet that crisis head-on. But today, I want to talk to you about our next chapter. We are taking the lessons we learned during those darkest months and using them to build something stronger: long-term community resilience.

What we’ve been doing since November We’ve moved past the "all-hands-on-deck" emergency phase to focus on the future. We are now working directly with local leaders to ensure that when the next challenge hits—whether it’s a health crisis or an economic shock—our communities won’t just be surviving; they’ll be ready.

Over the last three months, we have been transitioning our resources toward sustainable health initiatives and local support networks. We are training community health workers, stocking clinics with reliable supplies, and setting up food security programs that aren't just one-off donations but permanent fixtures of the neighborhood. We aren't just putting out fires anymore—we are building fire-proof houses.

Where we are going Our goal is to create a community that is self-reliant. We are shifting our focus from reactive aid to proactive empowerment. By investing in local infrastructure and education, we are ensuring that the people we support have the tools, the knowledge, and the resources to protect their own health and livelihoods long-term.

A huge opportunity: Little by Little Campaign! We want to keep this momentum going, and we have a perfect chance to do it together. Please mark your calendars for March 17th – March 20th. GlobalGiving is running their Little by Little campaign, and it is a massive boost for us. During these four days, any donation you make up to $50 will be 50% matched. * A $50 donation becomes $75.

  • These matching funds go fast, so acting early during the campaign window makes all the difference in turning our vision for a resilient future into reality.

Thank you for being with us since day one. We survived the emergency because of you, and now we are thriving because of you. Let's keep building this together.
