International Blue Crescent (IBC), together with its local partners, continues to support communities in southern Ukraine through integrated interventions in water supply, food security, and shelter rehabilitation.
In Kherson Oblast, IBC provides safe drinking water, as access to clean water has remained one of the biggest challenges since the destruction of the Kakhovka Dam. Each week, the team delivers around 30 tons of water to seven locations across the city, with plans to increase capacity to 60 tons by November 2025. The operation includes regular water quality testing, tank disinfection, and coordination with local authorities to ensure safe and timely delivery despite ongoing security challenges.
In Mykolaiv, the IBC mobile bakery remains a vital source of food and livelihood support. Operating five days a week, it produces approximately 3,000 loaves of bread daily, which are distributed through more than 25 local partner organizations to internally displaced people, the elderly and vulnerable families. The bakery also delivers 1,500 loaves weekly to Kherson, helping to address food insecurity across the region while creating employment opportunities for local workers.
At the same time, IBC is implementing the project “Improving Shelter Conditions and Accessibility for Conflict-Affected Families, Persons with Disabilities, and Veterans,” which focuses on repairing damaged shelters, improving accessibility in public spaces, and supporting inclusive community infrastructure in Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson. Activities include the installation of ramps, tactile pathways, accessible toilets, and weatherproofing of homes, alongside awareness sessions on inclusive design and safe shelter practices. Hygiene kits and essential items have also been distributed to improve health and living conditions.
Thanks to your donations, we would like to report that 11 families of three members each received cash assistance to cover groceries for a week in Kherson, helping them meet their most immediate needs.
Together, these efforts enhance safety, dignity, and resilience among the most affected populations in southern Ukraine, ensuring continued access to clean water, nutritious food, and secure shelter during a time of ongoing hardship.
