Every year in February, Seva Mandir hosts the Ummedmal Lodha Environment Awards, and we are excited to share the inspiring story of one of this year’s winners, Ruparam Gameti from Tiloi village, Udaipur.
Since joining Seva Mandir in 2009, Ruparam has made significant contributions to community development and education. Despite walking 12 kilometers to attend village meetings, he became a key figure in organizing the Tiloi village committee, eventually serving as president.
Ruparam led the development of the village's 12.5 hectare pasture land, overcoming opposition and encroachers, and with Seva Mandir's help, the land was cleared and used for plantation project which has benefited 110 families. He also championed education, helping establish two informal education centers and guiding students like Puni Kumari, who later became Head of her village after completing her bachelor’s degree.
Ruparam’s dedication has earned him the 2025 Ummedmal Lodha Environment Award in the "Individual Category." His story exemplifies the impact grassroots champions can make, and we are grateful for your support in recognizing and celebrating such inspiring leaders.
Best regards,
Seva Mandir Team
