For ensuring livelihood of the vulnerable women, On 23rd September 2025, Rural Women Development Trust (RWDT) organized an Eco-friendly Jute Bag Making Training for second batch of women at its meeting hall in Tharamangalam with the participation of 50 women. The program aimed to equip women with skills in making eco-friendly jute products such as handbags, laptop bags, and purses. Resource persons from the Social Welfare Department, Magalir Thittam, Axis Bank, and the Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII) guided participants on the training schedule, business opportunities, and available financial support for entrepreneurship.

The session introduced the one-month training program, highlighted the scope of eco-friendly products in the market, and built awareness about bank loans and schemes that could help women start their own small-scale businesses. Participants also interacted directly with bank officials and government representatives, which boosted their confidence and clarified future pathways for enterprise development.

Outcomes: The training created awareness among women about the types of jute products they would learn to make and the business potential in eco-friendly alternatives to plastic. It also helped them understand how to access financial assistance and institutional support for starting small businesses. The program has laid the foundation for women to become self-reliant entrepreneurs while also promoting environmental sustainability through the use of eco-friendly products.
