What We Achieved with Your Support
1. Teacher Training:
In May 2025, we conducted a comprehensive one-day professional development workshop o. Twenty-five teachers from Kisaju Primary School participated.
The training focused on:
Identifying signs of neurodivergence in learners, especially dyslexia.
Implementing differentiated inclusive instruction to cater to diverse learning needs within mainstream classrooms.
Preparing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for learners identified as needing additional support.
2. Immediate Impact:
The change was evident almost immediately:
Teachers reported an increased confidence in recognising learning difficulties and responding with empathy and effective strategies.
Already, several learners have been identified for further support, and teachers are currently working on drafting their IEPs.
The school administration has expressed interest in scaling up the training to reach more educators and initiate a whole-school inclusion policy.
What This Means
This milestone is a powerful step toward inclusive education in rural Kenya. Many teachers in public schools lack the tools and understanding needed to address learning differences, and learners with dyslexia often fall behind silently. With your support, we are beginning to change that narrative—one teacher, one learner, one school at a time.
Join Us Again – Your Gift Can Go Even Further in July
As we continue to expand this work to more schools, we warmly invite you to take part in the July GlobalGiving campaign, where every donation made will be matched. This is a great opportunity to double your impact and help us reach more educators and learners across underserved communities.
