The reporting period July to October, 2025 is the rainy season in Nepal where almost all region falls heavy rain causing flooding and disaster too. This period people face sufferer for transportation as well as any agricultural farming for livelihood. The victim families are vulnerable in the areas .They are in difficult situation for maintaining livelihood and day to day live However, the affected victim families have demanded and interest for long run income generation opportunities. For this baseline assessment have been carried out by MRC Nepal for the possible income generation opportunity. Based on finding, technical feasibility, demand and interest of the women farmer, off season vegetable production technology is the best option for increasing income and better livelihood of the victim families. The victim families powered by women farmers where women farmer lead any activities. There is no other better option as the vegetable gives good income in shortest period of time. The areas are much favorable for vegetable production as there are fertile land and irrigation for vegetable production. In Nepal vegetable enterprises is the best option for lowest land holders and poor families. Vegetables are also important for nutritious food, balance diet, for improving health status.
Reviewing this situation, MRC Nepal supported seed capital for seed of vegetable which are market potential. Along with this MRC Nepal supported production materials, domestic pesticide preparation technology for organic vegetable production, capacity building training and technical backstopping support. As a result the victim families are able to produce vegetable and sell in the market. They received good income average NRs 40,000 from 336 sq.m of land. They are very happy with this income. Not only selling vegetable but also they consumed organic fresh vegetable meeting kitchen requirement for balanced diet. They are able to improve health status by consuming protein and mineral rich vegetable. In Nepal the poorest of the poor families grow vegetable as they are rich sources of vitamin, protein and mineral. Also vegetable gives better productivity of land. Also they receive good income from the selling of surplus vegetable produces apart from consumption. Not only these but also create local employment so that there is no more domestic violence in the families.
