Project Summary HUFAC-CAMEROON seeks to construct and fully outfit a Youth Training and Women Empowerment Center in Kumba. This center will provide hands-on training in employable trades, digital and entrepreneurial skills, financial literacy, and leadership development for 300+ youth and 200+ women annually. By combining practical training with mentorship, micro-enterprise support, and access to job networks, the center will catalyze local economic opportunity, reduce youth unemployment, etc.
Why this project is needed Youth unemployment is high in Kumba and surrounding communities, with limited access to affordable, market-relevant training. Women in the region face barriers to education, skills development, and economic participation. A local, accessible training facility will bridge the gap between skills and jobs, empowering young people and women to build sustainable livelihoods and contribute to community resilience.
What we will do (the solution) Build a multi-functional training and empowerment center on land already owned or donated to HUFAC-CAMEROON. Offer high-quality, market-relevant training programs (e.g., carpentry, welding, electrical, solar tech, ICT/computing, tailoring, agribusiness, digital literacy, entrepreneurship, financial literacy, leadership and civic engagement). Provide on-site co-working space, small business start-up support, and access to micro-grants for graduates.
Expected impact Annual reach: 300+ youths and 200+ women directly trained and mentored. Post-training outcomes: at least 70% of graduates securing paid apprenticeships or micro-enterprise ventures within 6-12 months. Economic impact: increased household income for graduates; greater entrepreneurial activity in Kumba. Gender equality: improved access to training for women and enhanced leadership opportunities. Social benefits: strengthened community resilience, reduced youth migration.
