Summary

The project will equip 10 young mothers (14-21age) with essential entrepreneurship skills and knowledge, providing them with a broader understanding of how to plan, manage, and grow a business. Building on this, the project will offer specialized training and coaching in livestock and agribusiness, enabling young mothers to transform their traditional roles into sustainable and profitable ventures that contribute to long-term family development and financial independence.

Challenge

In many communities across Tanzania, thousands of girls drop out of school each year due to early pregnancy (ages 14-21), child marriage, harmful cultural practices, poverty, and a lack of supportive environments. Especially in Monduli District, these young girls often face stigma, limited opportunities, and exclusion from critical development processes. This empowerment project recognizes that without intervention, these girls are at risk of lifelong marginalization.

Solution

The core of the solution is to empower these young mothers with foundational entrepreneurship skills and knowledge and transform in agribusiness and livestock. By understanding how to plan, manage and grow a business, young mothers will begin to shift from subsistence activities to strategic income-generating enterprises. This training will not only cover business basics such as budgeting, savings, and market access but also build confidence and self-reliance among the beneficiaries.

Long-Term Impact

The project will empower 10 young mothers in Elowai Village by helping them gain entrepreneurship skills and knowledge and start their own business. It will reduce their risk of lifelong poverty, improve their confidence and increase their participation in community development. Also, it will help break the cycle of early marriage, early pregnancy, stigma, and exclusion, positively impacting their families and the broader community.
