On January 21 and 22, 2026, Empowering Women of Nepal (EWN) organized a two-day workshop titled “FightBack: Guide Tourism Violence and Harassment Prevention Training.” The program aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to identify, prevent, and respond to violence and harassment within the tourism sectors.
The training was conducted across two locations to a group of participants:
Day 1: Held at Mount Annapurna Secondary School, Nadipur, focusing on youth empowerment with 64 students.
Day 2: Held at the EWN Training Hall, Lakeside, for 58 participants, including professional guides, assistant guides, trainees and office staffs.
The workshop focused on practical skills, teaching participants how to recognize early warning signs and respond to everything from verbal abuse to physical threats. Through interactive sessions, participants learned how to de-escalate conflicts, report harassment effectively, and build the self-confidence needed to handle high-pressure situations. During the sessions, guides shared personal experiences from the field, discussing how they previously handled the situations.
Feedback from the sessions was overwhelmingly positive, with participants reporting a much clearer understanding of definitions of violence and harassment. The training built the self-confidence needed to raise a voice and take action. The program promoted a safer, more respectful and violence free learning and working environment.
