:introduction

Women and girls in Yemen are among the groups most affected by the ongoing conflict, experiencing gender-based violence, displacement, and deprivation of basic services. This project aims to provide protection and empowerment support to women and girls affected by the war in Yemen through a range of activities and programs aimed at strengthening their resilience and participation in the reconstruction process .

:Objectives

Contributing to creating a sustainable and resilient environment for women and girls in Yemen. By providing them with the tools and resources necessary to become self-reliant, the project aims to empower them to take control of their lives and become agents of change in their communities. This will not only help them overcome the challenges they face daily, but will also enable them to contribute to the development of their country. The project also aims to raise awareness about the importance of protecting women and girls from all forms of violence, including sexual exploitation and abuse, and to promote gender equality and women's empowerment in Yemen.

Reducing all forms of violence against women and girls, especially the most vulnerable and those affected by conflict, with a focus on promoting self-reliance, protecting women and girls from violence, and empowering them to be agents of change, leading to significant change in their lives. By providing them with livelihood opportunities and protection interventions, the project not only addresses their immediate needs but also enables them to contribute to their communities and the larger society. In the regions of Sana'a, Ibb, Aden, :Taiz, Shabwah, and Marib, the project aims to    

The "Empowering and Protecting War-Affected Women and Girls in Yemen from Sexual Exploitation and Abuse" project aims to enhance the self-reliance of displaced and vulnerable women in conflict-affected areas through livelihood and protection interventions. The project supports women's access to livelihoods and protection from all forms of violence, including

  • General objectiveImproving the conditions of women and girls affected by the war in Yemen by providing protection, basic services, and economic and social empowerment .

Sexual exploitation and abuse, empowering them to be agents of change and decision-makers in the context of the current crisis. The project will include the following components:

Services directly related to protection (legal advice, protection monitoring activities, capacity building including key education on comfort, mine risk education and referral as well as case management system for gender-based violence)

  • Enhancing access to livelihoods : Providing displaced and vulnerable women Through skills training and income-generating activities and opportunities microfinance To support
     themselves and their families .
  • Strengthening protection mechanisms : implementing interventions to prevent All forms of gender-based violence and response, including Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA). This includes creating safe spaces, legal assistance, and psychosocial support services .

Empowering women as agents of change : Providing women with the knowledge, skills and confidence to participate in decision-making processes at all levels, including in the context of humanitarian response and peacebuilding efforts .

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Beneficiaries

  • Women and girls affected by the war in Yemen, with a special focus on displaced and poor families .

 

 

  1. Holding awareness sessions on the importance of protecting women and their rights. Eight sessions benefited 44 women and girls.
  2. Group psychological support sessions were held by female psychologists, 9 sessions benefiting 37 women and girls.
  3. Individual psychological support sessions were conducted by specialists. 18 sessions were held, benefiting 18 cases.
  4. Legal advice, financial assistance, and referrals to service providers were provided to nine GBV cases. The organization maintains confidential records of these cases, which detail the abuses and violence they suffered over the past period.

 

 

Achievements

  • Scarcity of resources:
  • The difficult circumstances faced by women and girls who benefit from protection sessions, and the difficulty of providing them with financial assistance or at least food baskets .
  • Lack of legal protection for some cases of violence
