Dear Supporters,
Partnered with The GVI Trust we have made the efforts to focus on preserving textiles through the partnership of local organizations knowledgeable of this matter. The main one is the Centro de Textiles Tradicionales de Cusco (CTTC).
On these past months, we accomplish a small activity in favour of a textile association, and we have taken volunteers to get to know more about textiles through enrichment activities.
During March, we were able to support the painting and design of a small day-care inside the textile association: Asociación de Tejedoras Awayriqcharricheq, from the Chinchero district in Cusco. We painted and improved the area in benefit of the children while their mothers sell their textiles products in the Chinchero Market.
We also encourage the visit to communities where volunteers can see the textile work, for this reason we had several enrichment activities in which volunteers learn how to weave and appreciate the knowledge, quality and time, textiles take from community members.
We are still in need of funds to continue supporting textile associations with infrastructure and their needs to improve their production and business while they preserve this incredible art.
All the best,
Peru Textiles
