In Albania, neonatal deaths are the leading cause of death for children under five, and babies born to the poorest families face the highest risk. Most mothers enter childbirth without critical knowledge about nutrition, lifestyle, and newborn care. Around 40 mothers giving birth every day in the 5 hospitals we serve do not have adequate support in breastfeeding and self-care, exposing them and their babies to dangerous infections and long-term complications.
Every day, our team provides hands-on breastfeeding and self-care guidance to the 40 mothers giving birth in the five hospitals we serve-ensuring they are not left alone during their most vulnerable moments. For the poorest families, we supply newborn essential boxes with diapers, clothing, and hygiene supplies that protect babies in their first fragile days. Through education and awareness reaching over 10,000 mothers each day, we equip women with life-saving knowledge on pregnancy and birth.
