Since our last update, Dufatanye Organization has made significant progress in restoring dignity and opportunity for women and girls in Rwanda. To date, we have supported 3,500 vulnerable women and girls with reusable, eco-friendly sanitary pads in Nyanza District, Southern Rwanda. These pads are produced locally from banana fiber, offering a sustainable, biodegradable solution to menstrual health challenges. By the end of 2026, we aim to reach an additional 5,000 women and girls, ensuring that no girl misses school because of her period.
One powerful story is that of Claudine, a 16-year-old student, who once missed school regularly during her period. “Before, I stayed home every month,” she says. “Now, with the banana pads, I feel free, comfortable, and confident to continue my studies.” Her story is echoed by many girls whose education and dignity have been restored thanks to your support.
In addition to distributing pads, women involved in the production process are generating income for their families. This not only improves household livelihoods but also places women at the heart of sustainable solutions. Our team continues to conduct awareness sessions in schools and communities, breaking stigma and encouraging open conversations about menstrual health.
Thanks to the support from our donors. Together, we are building a future where women and girls can thrive with dignity, health, and opportunity. God bless you
