Dear GTBG Community:
From July to December 2025, Our Empowering Care Program (ECP) continued to provide essential, low-barrier supports to women & gender-diverse people across Canada facing emergency and critical conditions due to systemic barriers, economic insecurity, and gender-based violence.
Through direct relief and supports—including access to food, wellness and menstrual products, transportation, housing and utility assistance, and care packages—ECP met urgent needs while fostering dignity, safety, and community connection. Participants also accessed resource referrals, legal and housing guidance and navigation, and our Peer Support Services for long-term holistic support.
While the progress of this work is clear, the challenges facing our communities remain urgent. Many participants continue to navigate overlapping crises—unemployment, precarious housing, systemic discrimination, and limited access to healthcare or legal supports. This quarter, growing demand for assistance—driven mainly by word-of-mouth and partner referrals—underscored not only the need for equitable access to resources but also the resilience and strength of our communities. Rising living costs and gaps in formal systems leave many urgent needs unmet, placing increased pressure on grassroots and social service programs like ECP to step in and provide care for basic needs.
Through it all, ECP remains steadfast in delivering trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, low-barrier, and intersectional support that meets women where they are and upholds their right to dignity, stability, and belonging.
Together, we can strengthen this vital network of care—so no woman is left without dignity and access to fundamental resources or support.
