This project aims to empower 10 rural women victims of sexual violence through comprehensive socio-economic support. It includes training in income-generating activities, psychosocial support, and access to financing and necessary material resources. The goal is to restore these women's dignity, ensure their financial independence, and promote their social reintegration within their communities.
In the Eastern DRC, rural women victims of sexual violence face numerous challenges, including marginalization, social exclusion, and poverty. They are often deprived of economic resources and stigmatized within their communities. Indeed, in a report published by the NGO MSF, there are 25,000 victims of sexual violence in 2023. And for the year 2024 during the first five months 17,000 victims in the east of the DRC.
The project offers concrete solutions to improve the living conditions of these women: Training: Acquiring technical skills in agriculture, crafts, and small business management. Psychosocial support: Individual and group therapy sessions to help overcome trauma. Financing: Microloans and provision of materials to launch income-generating activities. Solidarity: Creating self-help groups to strengthen social cohesion and autonomy.
In the long term, this project aims to ensure the women's financial independence through sustainable economic activities, strengthen their social resilience, and facilitate their reintegration into their communities. They will become role models of economic and social success, contributing actively to the prosperity of their region. This project will also foster a local dynamic of solidarity and support that will benefit the entire community.
