Project Summary:
This project aims to empower 10 rural women victims of sexual violence in Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) by providing them with comprehensive socio-economic support. It includes training in income-generating activities, psychosocial support, and access to financing and essential material resources.
Context:
In Eastern DRC, women who have survived sexual violence face immense challenges, including trauma, social exclusion, and extreme poverty. They are often stigmatized and lack access to economic opportunities. According to a report by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), there were 25,000 victims of sexual violence recorded in 2023, and already 17,000 cases have been reported in the first five months of 2024.
