Jenga Engineers Project for Tumaini Report

By Samwel Kimani | Program Director

1. Overview

Over the last three months, great progress has been made on the Jenga Engineers Learning Space; an engineering and vocational training space for 300 street-connected youth, including teen mothers. Your continued support is making this possible, and we are deeply grateful.

2. Construction Progress

Construction has advanced steadily and remained on schedule. Key structural works such as finishing gable walls, preparing ceiling frameworks, and creating safe openings for balustrades were completed with close attention to safety and quality standards.

We also prepared all steel doors by cleaning, repairing, and smoothing them in readiness for painting, ensuring durability and long-term performance.

Daily site maintenance and strong coordination helped the team maintain consistent progress throughout the period.

3. Challenges

Minor delays occurred due to filler drying times, dust accumulation on doors, and intermittent material procurement issues. Despite this, overall progress remained strong.

4. Impact on Street-Connected Youth

Every milestone brings us closer to providing a safe, well-equipped space where youth can learn engineering and vocational skills. The facility will especially support teen mothers with their children, giving them a dignified, stable environment and real pathways out of poverty.

5. Next Steps

  • Paint all steel doors
  • Install ceiling boards
  • Complete balustrade welding and finishing
  • Begin internal wall preparation and fittings

6. Appreciation

Thank you for your continued support and belief in this work. Your generosity is building more than a training center; you are building futures and restoring hope for vulnerable youth and young mothers at Tumaini.
