GETTING READY FOR OUR NEW GLOBALGIVING UNREACHED YOUTHS PROJECT!
At KAP we are very grateful to note that our current Unreached Youths Project is nearly complete!
Many vulnerable young people have regained hope and purpose in their lives, and with confidence and new energy are now using their talents to counter their challenges and build their lives. Also the dependency levels on alcohol and drugs amongst our participating Unreached Youths went down: From 33% (one-third!) at the beginning of their 9 months training to 10% at graduation. Many requested to continue participating in KAP activities for another year at the 'Advanced Stage' level.
Also reported were increased self-esteem, peace at heart, improved relationships, improved study results, improved health, less fights and suicides.
Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning
The above achievements are reflected in KAP's monitoring data.
In addition, from the 27th through the 31st October 2025, the field work for KAP's Programme Evaluation showed substantive impact of our Unreached Youths activities too. The results will be shared as soon as the final report is ready.
Your GlobalGiving donations from September through November 2025 have been used in support of this evaluation. .
These important results and impact have been possible thanks to your generous support.
WE THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF OUR HEARTS!
Time has come for KAP to embark on a new GlobalGiving Unreached Youths project.
The need for this is loud and clear, not only in our own observations but also in official research and documentation.
The Unreached Youths' challenges in Kenya and Trans Nzoia County continue to worsen fast, and are affecting very many young people's lives.
FUNDING STRUGGLES
At the same time, unfortunately local and worldwide funds are diminishing, and threaten the implementation of our work.
Therefore our new GlobalGiving Unreached Youths project will be extra important; Its launch will be soon.
In our next report we will also be able to report on the use of our December Giving Tuesday donations!
GlobalGiving's report and disbursement of this campaign's donations and its matching funds, will be released towards the end of January 2026.
MELISSA's STORY
Melissa, 30 years old, is the first-born in a family of five. She is a bright young woman but physically challenged with cerebral palsy since childhood. She uses a wheelchair and is in need of very much help in her daily chores. Melissa lives with her parents and has a child who is four years old.
Due to her disability she was not allowed to go to school and forced to stay at home, as she could not do anything by herself, even eating. Thus she came to hate everything and everybody, even life and loathed mingling with her peers. However in her twenties she fell in love with a man. Unfortunately he was poor and also an alcoholic. She therefore could not stay with him, and became totally confined to home: Her parents now demanded her to ask for permission even when she wanted to visit friends, lest she comes back with a second child.
She became a very angry, depressed person, and could shout at her brothers because she felt so much out of place when she saw them doing their own things. Things which she was unable to do. Her brothers in turn blamed her for being a burden. One of them then stole some money which had been donated to her, adding fuel to her feelings of anger and hate. She felt belittled by her parents for being so strict on her due to her pregnancy. She wished death would come and take her.
During the workshop she shared deeply and cried out with a lot of pain of how she regrets having been born with such severe physical challenges.
The training contents also included self-awareness and the stages of acceptance. She shared that gradually she was able to understand herself better, learned how to deal with the emotional abuse, and to accept that some things might never be changed and how to live with them. She resolved to forgive her family members. Through intensive follow-up and therapy sessions she worked hard to believe in herself and to try solving issues without a lot of conflict.
Her father was impressed by her positive changes and decided to support her initiatives. Melissa became aware of her capacities and shared with her father that she would like to open a salon in the small local market. This was done: She hired two girls to work for her while she became the in-charge. She proves to be a good manager, and her salon is doing very well.
Melissa loves attending KAP’s continuous training sessions, is now happy to mingle with others (who are also happy to help her!) and clearly tries to make the best of her life.
KAP is so grateful and feels energised!
