Dear Supporters,
This has been a very exciting quarter for our Educational Support fund in Laos fund. We spent nearly 1100USD towards UNSDG4: Quality Education and increasing access to quality education for students in Laos.
This Quarter The GVI Trust has contributed to the continuing of GVI Laos’ free classes for male and female students from rural Laos, who come to the city to gain access to higher quality education. There are 36 (54%) male students and 31 (46%) female students benefitting from these classes.
Money from the GVI Trust also went to the purchasing of English textbooks for 4 students currently supported in private English classes at the Bright Centre. This is directly increasing access to higher quality English lessons for those students.
The GVI Trust has also contributed to UNSDG 5: Gender equality by using the rented classrooms to support all-female classes and skill-building workshops. This quarter several students in our female classes learned more about computer basics, putting together and presenting PowerPoint presentations about their favourite subjects, ranging from: cats to Hmong wedding culture. We also held CV writing and critical thinking workshops to increase the students’ abilities to apply these skills in order to seek gainful employment in the future.
Thank you for your continued contribution and commitment to the GVI Trust Program in Laos. We look forward to working together to continue to provide these opportunities in Laos in the next quarter.
