A Mural at Central Primary
At RKF, our mission through this project is to inspire learning that connects creativity, community, and care for the planet. Through education and art, we aim to nurture young changemakers who see themselves as part of the solution for a more sustainable future. Since 2021, RKF has built this vision from the ground up, starting with climate action workshops that helped students understand their impact on the environment, and then creating a school garden that brought those lessons to life.
Now, that journey continues with a new mural at Central Primary. Art has long served as a catalyst that brings people together, sparks creativity, and drives meaningful change and this mural captures that spirit perfectly. Situated in the city, Central Primary is home to more than 1,800 children from underprivileged communities. Despite limited resources and few extracurricular opportunities, the school has become a place where creativity and environmental awareness thrive.
The mural transforms a once-plain wall into a statement of hope and belonging. It connects the ideas behind RKF’s workshops and garden; sustainability, imagination, and collaboration into one colourful story. Each brushstroke reminds students that their ideas matter and that learning extends beyond the classroom. More than just art, the mural represents the power of community: students, teachers, parents, and partners working together to create lasting change.
For Central Primary, it stands as a proud reminder that education can inspire action, creativity, and care for the planet. At RKF, we believe that every project whether a workshop, garden, or mural, plants the seeds of transformation. And thanks to your support, at Central Primary, those seeds continue to grow, colouring the future with imagination and hope.
Still Winning in Hope: .ORG Impact Awards Update
Out of nearly 3,000 entries from around the world, The Rahul Kotak Foundation was named a Finalist in the 2025 .ORG Impact Awards under the Hunger & Poverty category, celebrating our School Meals Program and the incredible community behind it. From Kisumu to Washington D.C., our story of turning hunger into hope reached a global stage, and we proudly brought home the Finalist Trophy, a symbol of our collective journey and impact.
This achievement would not have been possible without the unwavering support of our amazing partners; Mind & Life Institute, Crown Paints, Kisumu Concrete Products, and Tridah Group, whose belief in our mission continues to drive us forward. Their generosity, collaboration, and commitment to nourishing young minds remind us that sustainable change truly happens when communities come together.
While we may not have taken home the grand award, this recognition stands as a powerful reminder of how far a shared dream can go, and how much more we can achieve, together.
Halfway There – Let’s Cross the Finish Line Together!
Since 2019, our Climate Action Project has been sowing seeds of change—literally. We’ve built a mini botanical garden featuring over 150 plant species, established two school gardens, conducted climate workshops in more than eight schools, and planted over 1,000 seedlings.
Thanks to your generosity, we’ve already raised $5,097 toward our $10,000 goal. That means we’re just $4,903 away from scaling this impact even further, reaching more schools, planting more seedlings, and nurturing future climate champions.
Every donation fuels solutions for a thriving, greener Kisumu and a greener World.
