Relaunching Our Hippotherapy Program
This fall, Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida proudly relaunched our Hippotherapy program, a special therapeutic service that had been on hold for the past few years.
What is Hippotherapy?
Hippotherapy is a physical, occupational, and speech therapy treatment strategy that utilizes the natural gait and movement of a horse to achieve specific therapeutic goals. With guidance from licensed therapists, children with special needs engage in structured sessions that help improve posture, balance, coordination, strength, and communication skills. The movement of the horse provides sensory input and motor challenges that are difficult to replicate in a traditional clinical setting.
Who We Are Helping
This fall, our program welcomed two young participants under the age of 8. Each child faces unique challenges, and works with a licensed therapist, our volunteer team, and Zander, our hippotherapy pony. They are already showing progress in motor skills, body awareness, and engagement. Their smiles, growing confidence, and milestones remind us why this program is so important. One participant is attending on a full scholarship, made possible entirely through donor support. Without this financial assistance, access to these critical services would not have been possible for their family.
Why It Matters
For children with special needs, early and targeted intervention is critical. Our hippotherapy program offers an innovative, compassionate approach that supports whole-child development in a joyful, supportive environment. Thanks to your continued support, we are able to bring these life-changing experiences back to our community.
