Dear HOPE Friends,
450 Karachi Home School Students Break Fast Together: Sit-Down Iftar, Food Rations, and Eid Clothes
On March 12, 2026, 450 underprivileged students who attend HOPE Home Schools throughout Karachi, Pakistan gathered together for a Sit-down Iftar event complete with Food Rations and Eid Clothes distributions.
This event took place in Bhittaiabad, an inner city neighborhood within Karachi. The children enjoyed breaking their fast with hundreds of other students and also received Food Rations and Eid Clothes to brighten their spirits and provide a measure of relief to their families during the month of Ramadan.
In downtrodden sectors of urban areas, many disadvantaged children are not able to attend school due to the financial constraints of poverty. Rather than abandoning these children, HOPE has set up Home Schools in downtrodden neighborhoods to bring education to their doorsteps and provide them with the requisite tools to better their futures. Altogether, HOPE's Home School network provides a free/nominal cost education to 9,000 children across Pakistan.*
Home Schools are an innovative solution to the decades-long problem of lack of supply/infrastructure of schools for children in underserved regions. Children in adjacent neighborhoods are brought together under the leadership of trusted educators within the community who are paid a salary for their service. The children are provided a structured educational foundation and the proper credits to show for their efforts.
