Transforming Lives Through Clean Water

Thanks to your generosity, families in Kericho County now have access to clean and safe water, a vital, life changing need.  This project has enabled 917 households to access clean and safe water. Four natural water springs at Berea,  Chereregyot Emitiot, and Kaptembwo in Kericho County have been completed.

This project has positively impacted the lives of men, women, and children serving a total population of 3,178. Additionally, eight schools with a combined student and staff population of 2,501 have benefited.

To achieve this, several key activities were involved. These included receiving proposals from the community, conducting site visits to assess the viability of the springs, holding preparatory meetings, overseeing ongoing construction, training water committees, and commissioning the springs — all made possible by your continued support.

The impact of this project goes beyond access clean and safe water. Shadrack Kipngeno Cheruiyot, a senior field officer of our Health Programme, highlights the many ways protected springs have transformed daily life:

  • Time-saving: With readily available water, community members — especially women — now have more time to engage in other productive activities.
  • Improved health standards: Access to protected water sources has significantly reduced waterborne diseases, leading to healthier communities.
  • Reliable water supply: With spring protection, communities now enjoy a sustainable and adequate water supply for domestic use and small-scale irrigation, even during dry seasons.
  • Environmental protection: Proper fencing and drainage systems have helped preserve and protect the water sources.

It’s clear that a spring is more than just a water source — it fosters community spirit and collaboration among members, partners, and stakeholders working toward a shared goal.

Ruth from Kaptembwo Water Spring says “Thank you, Brighter Communities Worldwide, for your support in protecting our spring. Not only does clean water now flow, but it also brings hope for a better future for our children and generations to come.”

We are deeply grateful to have protected these water springs with your support. However, the journey doesn't end here. We will continue to work with more communities across the county  to access clean and safe water.

The upcoming water projects will focus on protecting seven natural water sources in Kericho County, impacting the lives of 957 households with a total population of 5,283. Twelve schools, with a combined population of 3,346, will also benefit. We hope to contine our collaboration and saving lives together.                                                                                              Thank you so much — from all of us at Brighter Communities Worldwide.
