Hello to all of our wonderful donors. We are back, after our GlobalGiving account was paused. We are once again active and are happy to continue to bring you updates on our ranch residents. Thank you for continuing your support for Horses of Tir Na Nog. We are so grateful.
On August 25, we were caught off guard by a thunderstorm. The storm lasted more than two hours and left behind close to two inches of rain according to local rain gauges. We are usually prepared for rain. We cover our haystack and weigh it down to ensure that our hay stays dry. We had not anticipated the amount or duration of the rain and we were unable to cover our haystack before the rain began.
We were concerned that the storm had caused our hay to mold. We knew that we would most likely need to order an extra hay delivery to replace mold-damaged bales. We faced the cost of adding a whole extra delivery at the cost of nearly $5,000. Though that week was especially challenging for us, we are so grateful to have the support of our Horses of Tir Na Nog community.
Fortunately our volunteers were able to salvage some of hay and thanks to you, a new order of hay was possible.
With over 100 equines, hay is so important to our sanctuary. Feeding our ranch residents is our highest priority and we couldn’t feed our herd without donors like you. Especially in hard times, we are blessed to have your support.
Thank you!
