Our clinic has many patients who don't understand changing health, nutrition & mental health needs with aging or postpartum or don't have good financial literacy skills. Especially during the pandemic, we saw how health and financial illiteracy caused tremendous stress and disadvantage in their lives. We will run a series of workshops educating women on physical health, aging, mental health, postpartum, diabetes and finance.
Our clinic has many local patients with limited knowledge about healthy living and aging, financial literacy, health insurance and mental health. This causes tremendous stress and disadvantage to both them and their families. Many don't have access to information on healthy aging, mental health, post-partum health or dealing with diabetes: all growing problems in Indonesia. Research shows that up to 45% of postpartum women suffer depression and feel a lack of support.
We will run a series of workshops with health professionals and Bumi staff educating local women on health, mental health and finance. The issues addressed will include mental health support, physical aging changes, diabetes, cancer screening, heart disease, healthy lifestyle changes, post-partum health and support, financial literacy, enrolling for national health insurance and more. We will give women an information kit and food package to encourage attendance.
The project will improve health, mental health and financial skills of 1000 women in our local and nearby villages and encourage enrollment in the national health insurance scheme. We'll ensure they're aware of resources or lifestyle changes to help with mental health issues, post partum, diabetes and aging. We want them to feel safe and trusting so they can approach our staff if they have any questions or problems about these issues in the future.
