Cyclone Ditwah has severely impacted farmers all over Sri Lanka and even in our project areas in Udawalawe, destroying crops and wiping out months of effort. Many families live from yield to yield, and this disaster has cut off their only income. As they work to re-crop and rebuild their fields, they need urgent support. Helping them now will speed their recovery and protect their livelihoods during this difficult time.
Flooding from Cyclone Ditwah has devastated farms, washed away crops, and put thousands of Sri Lankan farmers in crisis.
This project will support affected farmers by covering their basic needs for a month, ensuring families are not burdened by the sudden loss of income from destroyed crops. With immediate essentials taken care of, farmers can focus on recovering, re-cultivating their fields, and restarting their livelihoods without added financial stress.
In the long term, this support will strengthen our goodwill and trust with the farming community, allowing us to build deeper relationships. This foundation will help us continue implementing meaningful community development and wellbeing projects, creating lasting positive impact for the families of Udawalawe.
