The Importance of Transportation in Survival

In pediatric oncology, strict adherence to treatment protocols is a decisive factor in survival rates. Chemotherapy is not an isolated procedure; it is a carefully scheduled, cumulative, and strategically dosed regimen.

Missing a session is not simply a matter of “rescheduling.” It can mean:

  • Disrupting the clinical protocol.

  • Delaying critical medications.

  • Reducing treatment effectiveness.

  • Increasing the risk of relapse or disease progression.

  • Adding physical and emotional strain to the child.

For families facing economic hardship, transportation often becomes the greatest barrier between diagnosis and treatment continuity. When a family lacks the resources for fuel, tickets, or travel logistics, the risk is not just a missed appointment — it is a break in the very process that sustains life.

Transportation is not an auxiliary service. It is a lifeline.

Impact Generated by 1,689 Transportation Services in 2025

Each of the 1,689 transportation services provided in 2025 represents:

  • A chemotherapy session completed.

  • A medical test performed on time.

  • An oncology consultation that allowed progress to be monitored.

  • A family that did not have to choose between food and travel expenses.

A child or young person who remained actively in treatment. The cumulative impact translates into:

1. Treatment Continuity

Ensuring timely attendance strengthens the effectiveness of medical protocols and directly contributes to improved chances of recovery.

2. Reduced Treatment Abandonment

In economically vulnerable communities, free transportation removes one of the primary causes of interrupted care.

3. Lower Emotional Stress for Families

Having a safe vehicle, a dedicated driver, and reliable accompaniment brings stability during an already fragile time.

4. Greater Equity in Access to Healthcare

In 2025, a family’s location or financial situation did not determine whether a child could attend treatment. These transportation services helped narrow the gap in access to life-saving care.

Conclusion

The 1,689 transportation services provided in 2025 are more than operational figures; they are direct interventions in a child’s chance of survival.

Every mile traveled represents treatment delivered, hope sustained, and a real opportunity for recovery.

In pediatric oncology, time is life.

And in 2025, through these transportation services, that time was protected.

Acknowledgment

This work would not be possible without the generosity and trust of our donors.

Your commitment helps remove one of the greatest barriers to treatment: the ability to get there. Through your generosity, children are not forced to miss life-saving care simply because transportation is out of reach.

On behalf of every child, every parent, and every family who has stepped into our vehicle on their way to treatment, thank you for helping us keep the road to survival open.
