Make Women in Rural India Financially Secure

We are glad to share an inspiring story from our community - one that shows how awareness and confidence can truly change lives.

MangiBai, a 40-year-old woman from Kagmandada village, lives a simple life with her husband and three children. As an active member of a Self-Help Group (SHG), she regularly attends meetings where she learns about savings, credit, and financial safety.

Recently, she received a phone call claiming that a loan of 15 lakhs had been approved in her name, but she first needed to pay 1500 as a “processing fee.” Instead of panicking, MangiBai stayed calm - thanks to the awareness she gained through her SHG. She politely ended the call and avoided what could have been a serious scam.

Her training had taught her about fake loan schemes and financial fraud, and this knowledge helped protect her family. Today, she shares her experience with other women in the village, encouraging them to stay alert. Her story shows how awareness at the grassroots level builds stronger, safer communities and empowers women to become pillars of strength.

Empowering Women Through Digital Literacy

Glimpse of Digital Literacy Training Session

Dear Supporters,

We are very happy to share how your generous support is helping protect and empower women in rural and tribal areas of southern Rajasthan through our Financial Digital Literacy program.

Recently, in Patiya village, of South Rajasthan, your support changed the life of Rupali, an illiterate woman who had been struggling silently. For six months, she hadn’t received her pension, despite visiting the local center repeatedly with hope.

That’s when Shamsu Devi, one of our dedicated Master Digital Sakhis, stepped in. As part of her doortodoor awareness efforts, she listened to Rupali’s story and guided her to review her financial records. Together, they discovered that the pension had been credited regularly, but was being withdrawn by someone else, without Rupali’s knowledge.

With great courage, Shamsu helped Rupali confront the eMitra operator who had been exploiting her trust. Though the lost money couldn’t be recovered, Rupali gained something even more valuable, the knowledge to protect herself and the strength to speak up. The eMitra operator was forced to shut down his shop and was later found to be committing the same fraud with others as well, sending a strong message that such exploitation will not be tolerated.
