Hope and Healing through Education - Stories of Impact

By Damaris Cheokemboi Ngelelei | Administration Manager

Time for play is the right of every child
Time for play is the right of every child

Thank you for supporting this project keeping 46 orphaned children at school in the wake of one of Kenya's most horrifice road traffic accidents that took the lives of 52 people from our community.  Ahead of July Bonus Day on July 16th, members of the families involved share their stores.

For many families in our community, education is not just a pathway to a brighter future—it is a lifeline.

Jane is a guardian to her sister’s children. Life has not been easy, but thanks to the bursary support provided by Brighter Communities Worldwide, she has found relief and renewed hope.

“The support has benefited both the family and the children. The learners are in school throughout, and they are very happy. They’re now free from stress, and their performance has improved since they attend school consistently,” Jane shares.

“Now I only need to manage things like school tours or medical fees. I feel relieved as a guardian. Thank you so much, Brighter Communities Worldwide.”

John, a single father, tells a similar story of gratitude. After a life-changing incident, he was left to care for his children alone while working far from home.

“I would have had to quit my job to stay with the children. But because of this support, they are in school and thriving. Their performance has greatly improved, and they are happy.”

“Now I can continue working and also focus on providing the basic needs like clothing, food and a roof for the family. The support has eased the pressure ,lifted the children’s emotional stress and given them an opportunity to be like other children.”

Another story comes from a young man left to care for his siblings after the loss of their parents.

“I was overwhelmed trying to provide for them and ensure they stayed in school. With school fees now covered, I can work and focus on providing for their other needs like food and clothing.”

These stories show how access to education transforms lives—not just for the learners, but for entire families.

Your support can help us reach more children at risk of dropping out due to financial hardship. With your help, we can continue to give families relief and learners the stability and dignity they deserve through access to education.

Donate today. Help us keep hope alive—one child, one family at a time.

To protect the children’s privacy, their identities will remain anonymous.  Names have been changed and photographs in use are from our schools education programmes in Kenya.
