Ayuda Legal Puerto Rico is excited to announce that applications are now open for the latest cycle of our Community Paralegals Program. Since 2020, this initiative has grown from a simple belief—that legal knowledge should live in the hands of the people—into a dynamic practice of learning, action, and community empowerment. Legal tools are not just for lawyers; they are instruments to protect, resist, and transform.
This cycle comes at a time of profound uncertainty, locally and globally. Spaces to defend rights are narrowing, inequalities are deepening, and the systems meant to protect us often fail. Yet these challenges demand courage, imagination, and collective strategy. The new program, Action in Times of Uncertainty, will gather 25 multidisciplinary participants—community leaders, organizers, and advocates—ready to explore the complexities of defending human rights, protecting communities and identities under threat, and upholding the rule of law.
From February 24 to May 2026, participants will meet twice a month, mostly online with optional in-person gatherings. The curriculum is flexible, designed to respond to the realities of workers, caregivers, and leaders balancing many responsibilities. Each session is a space to learn, reflect, and build strategies rooted in lived experience and collective care. The first session will take place on February 24, 2026, at 6 PM via Zoom at bit.ly/alprparalegal.
We also extend a heartfelt invitation to our allies and donors. Your support ensures that more people can learn, organize, and defend their rights, amplifying impact across Puerto Rico. Each story shared, each connection built, and each strategy designed strengthens communities and moves us closer to a society where justice is not abstract, but practiced daily.
The call is out. Share it. Support it. Join it. Help us build a network of community paralegals ready to act with courage, creativity, and care.
