Girls in rural areas in the DRC face difficulties accessing education due to poverty, distance and gender-based discrimination. The schooling rates of girls in rural areas are very low, which has negative consequences on their future and their personal development. In rural areas (38%) than in urban areas (11%). Girls in rural areas are more vulnerable to early marriage, early pregnancy and sexual violence.
Extreme poverty is a real scourge in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The DRC is among the five poorest nations in the world. In 2023, approximately 74.6% of Congolese people lived on less than $2.15 per day. In these difficult living conditions, girls' fundamental right to education is often violated: for the poorest families, the costs associated with schooling are out of reach.
In order not to condemn the future of young girls from deprived communities in South Kivu, our field project is setting up a scholarship program. Thanks to these scholarships, young girls can access higher education or various professional training: management or accounting diploma, training to become an electrician, painter or decorator.
By helping to fund her education or training, you are giving a poor girl in the DRC the chance to take back control of her life and transform it by developing skills and qualifications. Your donation will help her obtain stable employment and build a better future for herself, free from extreme poverty and its dangers. In this way, she will be better able to provide for her own needs as well as those of her family or community.
