The Hand to Hand garden is a place where we grow fruits and vegetables that are in season. The produce is grown by men and women who cannot find work in regular jobs due to their poor education and the garden is a place where they can gain confidence, earn money and be positive contributors to their community.
The garden is not an income producing project for the foundation as all of the growers receive 100% of the revenue. This is divided equally between all who lend a hand and it the beginning of helping single mums and dads to become financially independent. The produce is sold to neighbours, at market and even back to the foundation so we can feed the poor.
Recently the children who live at the housing have been on holidays and they all enjoyed lending a hand and also receiving a little bit of pocket money!!!
Our garden also consists of flowering plants which bring not only beauty to our garden and housing estate, but are also sold in pots to people who want to establish a garden in their own home.
The garden provides much more than food. It creates changed lives and happy hearts!
